Dennison Ramalho

Biography

Dennison Ramalho (born July 25, 1974 in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul) is a Brazilian film director, screenwriter, and editor widely recognized as one of the prominent voices in modern Brazilian horror and genre cinema. Having studied film at the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP), Ramalho built an international reputation with his visceral and atmosphere-driven short films, notably "Amor Só de Mãe" (Love from Mother Only, 2003) and "Ninjas" (2010), which garnered accolades at various horror festivals worldwide.

Ramalho also co-wrote "Encarnação do Demônio" (Embodiment of Evil, 2008), the closing chapter of José Mojica Marins' iconic Coffin Joe trilogy. "Morto Não Fala" (The Nightshifter, 2018) was Ramalho's feature-length directorial debut, receiving widespread acclaim and touring prestigious global genre festivals such as Sitges, Overlook, and Fantastic Fest. In addition to his feature work, he directed a segment for the horror anthology "ABCs of Death 2" (2014) and contributed as a writer and director for various television and streaming series.
