Leajato Amara Robinson

Biography

LEAJATO AMARA ROBINSON received a BFA from the Juilliard School, and is a four-year graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. His early journey as an artist started in music and eventually extended to dance. Robinson started studies at The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and the Milwaukee Ballet School where at the age of sixteen he was choreographing and performing in Summer programs for the Milwaukee Ballet School, and a Benefit Concert for the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music; under former faculty, teacher and mentor, Michael J. Kalinyen, an established singer and performer e.g., Angela Lansbury, Broadway production of Sweeney Todd.

Mr. Robinson’s Theater and Film studies were under Michael J. Kalinyen, Terry Schreiber, Christopher Carter Sanderson, and Penny Templeton and Hank Schob. As a performer for television, Robinson has co-starred in television shows such as “BULL”, “MANIFEST”, “The Punisher”, “Homeland”, and ”Orange is the New Black”. Mr. Robinson has also appeared and won "Dramatic Performance of the Year" (Young-Howze Theater Journal Awards), in a feature film of Shakespeare's "Macbeth" in the title role. In dance he has toured nationally and internationally with the Paul Taylor Dance Company/Taylor II, Elisa Monte Dance, and Tap Dogs. In addition he has performed at Long Wharf Theater, North Shore Music Theater, and multiple regional theaters as actor, dancer and musician. He has been in Off Broadway productions, and a variety of self-produced shows demonstrating his vocal and music compositions, which leads to “The Sh-ames (Shakespeare Games)” and "Lullaby".
