What happens in "Sterben statt Erben": Der Rentner Rudolf Berg, dessen Hobby das Spiel mit Kindern in Lübecks Theaterfigurenmuseum ist, wird dort eines Tages erdrosselt. Die Lübecker Mord-kommission kann keine Verbindung zu dem Mordversuch an der Werbeagentur-Chefin Monika Fallersleben herstellen. Doch dann finden Clara Hertz und Marion Ahrens heraus, dass beide Opfer zu den Erben einer jüngst verstorbenen alten Dame gehören. Es geht um eine Million Euro. Und sie stoßen auf einen weiteren Erben: Stefan Kunze ist Arbeiter in einer Fischfabrik, hoch verschuldet und ein gewalttätiger Mensch. Er hat ein Motiv und für die Tatzeit kein Alibi. Klar ist: Je weniger Erben, umso mehr erbt jeder einzelne. Ist Kunze der Täter?
