Among the arts and cultures featured in the program are body painting among the tribes of the Amazon River basin in Brazil; the link between arts and religion as shown in the monuments of the Egyptian Empire; the sand painting of Buddhist monks in Tibet; and the music of Mexican-Americans in the southwestern United States as an expression of ethnic heritage. Also shown in the program are several contemporary Western artists and various artistic creations, including a performance artist, the AIDS quilt, and Christo's "Running Fence."
