Ryuichi and his younger associate Noboru fight to protect Hiroko and Miyako from Yoshioka's men. Mariko, sensing this telepathically, sets Yoshioka and his men ablaze and heads to Maeda's mansion. However, Megumi stands in her way. Unable to fight her own sister, Mariko collapses in front of Maeda's mansion. Miyako cradles her, filled with remorse.
